Walthamstow Reservoirs 2/4/17

Today was planned to spend the day at Walthamstow with my partner for a nice relaxed walk around
this complex of 10 Reservoirs in total,I wanted to try somewhere different to Rainham Marsh.
After about a hour spent on buses we finally arrived bathed in complete sun for most of the day,so we set off firstly walking along part of the crystal clear River Lea until we reached the main lakes, with not knowing which way to go I just let Ramune decide on most of our route, knowing Ospreys was now arriving I kept a eye on the sky most of the day but no luck, all of the usual waterfowl was recorded along with my first Sedge Warbler of the year.
A fishing match was under way a weekend angling for Cancer charity, when we could smell food being cooked well we thought we would be in for breakfast but only to be told it was for the charity match only oh well I wouldn't have minded donating £10 for 2 burgers but my money wasn't good enough !!!
We continued around 2 half empty Reservoirs which help colonies of breeding Cormorants on the Islands and looked a lot better for some waders to be found, which included 4 Little Ringed Plover,1 Greenshank,4-5 Common Sandpiper and Common Redshank.
But no Terns at all but a nice day out never the less and we caught the train back home faster than a bus :)

A look back across one of the Reservoirs with Canary Wharf in the back ground

Beckton district park 19/4/17

I did not plan much today with things to do so I decided on a walk around the local park hoping for some parakeet flight shots, but that didn't go to plan.
So just a few shots of some resident birds bit of a funny day so had to use a high ISO to get any shutter speed which is never a good thing.

Canning Town 18/4/17

I decided on a walk from Beckton to East India Quay today having seen this area from passing on the DLR many times.
I started of  at Royal London docks where I firstly picked up on some Common Terns but not much else apart from Ring-necked Parakeets and a few Sand Martin,so I started a few mile walk up to Canning Town Ecological Park where a male Blackcap greeted me in song along with a Cetti's Warbler a quick look around here especially at the 2 small pools which could be promising for Dragonflies later in the year.
I sat for a while watching a pair of Oystercatcher on the river Lea bank when I noticed a very high distant raptor which was nice to see it was in fact a Red Kite.
Now it was for a shorter walk to East India Quay which I was a bit excited about but on arrival was totally the opposite and disappointed to see it was just full of silt with very little water but a pair of Little Ringed Plover was another welcomed site.

At least it was a really nice warm day, maybe the rest of the week will prove better has I plan on a trip to Walthamstow Reservoirs !!!
