Barton Pits & Waters Edge

With not much happening I decided to have a look around the local pits to see if the Garganey or Long-tailed duck were still knocking about but no luck.
With only a Common Sandpiper and a Cetti's Warbler of note at Waters Edge
and nothing on Barton pits it was a quick walk round.

Far Ings 9-5-11

Having got up early to empty the moth trap out we decided on a walk up to Far Ings seems we haven't been there for a while,all was quiet and not much about so i concentrated more on the Butterflies and Dragonflies
but not many of them about either with a few Blue-tailed & Common Blue Damselflies.
Butterflies included a few Green-veined white,Orange tip,Speckled Wood,Peacock,Small Tortoiseshell  & a single Holly Blue.
Birds included
Common Tern
Marsh Harrier
Bearded Tit
being the only birds of note

My moth trap contained 14 moths of 6 Species

Collared Pratincole mini twitch 7-5-11

With the Collared Pratincole being reported at Rosper road pools near Immingham i set off for a 12 mile trip on my bike which took just over a hour with a couple wrong turns i finally arrived at the pools.
I got talking to some other birders that hadn't seen it but was saying that it was seen upto 12.40.
So we sat it out for a few hours in the late afternoon with the light going at around 6 we gave up and decided it wasn't going to show oh well next time so i set off for the 12 mile trip back.

On my return home and getting more info the person only reported this bird 4 minutes after it had gone
Seems he had been watching it all morning and he says suppression is a dirty word  thanks  cost me a lifer and a wasted 24 mile bike ride round trip.
